Description: The Appalachian National Scenic Trail traverses the scenic and culturally resonant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. It is also know as the Appalachian Trail (A.T.)- a marked hiking trail running across 14 states. The trail stretches 2,180+ mile long and took more than 15 years to complete.
What To Do: Hikers enjoy many freedoms along the trail. Backcountry camping is available at about 100 designated camp sites. You can also choose to stay in a shelter.
Toilets /Showers: Restrooms are accessible.
Operating Hours: In general, the Appalachian Trail is open year-round.
Fees: The Appalachian Trail is free for all to enjoy. However, some permits and fees are charged for overnight stays in numerous state and national parks.
